Sock Monkey Snape

A couple days ago I bought a sock monkey kit from Goodwill for $1.99. Images are clickable for enlargement.




I've always wanted to make a sock monkey. So I spent a day working on cutting and sewing and stuffing and sewing the monkey. Once he was all put together I got to "personalize" him however I wanted. I did not like the look of the Santa sock monkey the kit had plans for. Of course I thought of doing a Sock Monkey Snape right away. So, like my crocheted Snape doll, I knew I would need pants, a frock coat, and stringy Snape hair. I set to work and had a lot of fun crocheting all his things.

I crocheted a wand and potion bottle too.









His palms have velcro tabs so he can hold the wand and potion bottle.
I was going to make shoes but then I thought, hey!, he's a sock monkey! Let's see his socks!


His tail actually was longer but I thought it was too long so I cut it down.




Oooooo nakey Snapey Monkey.
This is his red baboon butt. So cute.


  
I tried to show the hole I have for his tail here. It's in the center where the ripple normally is. I only skipped two more chain spaces on either side so it would fit.

His pants also needed a tail hole.


I know what a lot of you are thinking. Yes, he does look a lot like this certain person...... http://img79.imageshack.us/img79/4903/r12407297644df.jpg but I can't help that. Did I scare you? Sorry. It's how he looks.Hope you-all enjoyed this project. It was lots of fun!

Beatles Photo and Link to Make a Chart

Well, since a few of you have been asking, this is the best I can do to offer up the Beatles chart for you.
First. Copy this photo to your computer.





Then go to this site..

and upload the photo. I used the middle grid size option - Big (96w x 120h) for the crochet section.

And push the submit button.

Hopefully you have Adobe or some other pdf file reader so that you can see your new chart. Then just print it out.

I don't have "pdf-to-html" conversion hardware or else I'd just post the grid right here. I also have no idea how to post a pdf file. I admit it. I'm a lame-oid when it comes to computers. I'm just glad I'm able to post anything at all on here

I used a Flexible Susan Bates Silvalume size J hook to crochet the blanket. It looks like a J hook with a long cable attached to the end with a "stopper" at the other end of the cable. This allows you to load up the cable with all your stitches and the "plug" prevents your stitches from slipping off the end. It's the greatest invention ever. Well, ok this and perhaps the wheel. Oh, and fire. Is fire an invention? No, I think that's a discovery. Now I'm having a bit of a silly conversation with myself so I think I'll just stop here..

Beatles Graphed Afghan

Alright, I couldn't let today go by without wishing Sir Paul McCartney a happy 64th birthday.
I love the Beatles and when I was younger my friends and I would always throw birthday party sleep-overs for the Beatles whenever it was one of their birthdays.

Soooo, here's my tribute to the Fab Four on this day...(Images are clickable for enlargement).





For some weird reason the glare from the white in the blanket confused my camera and made it look bluish. It's really all black and white.

Well, anyway, to Paul. A true romantic.

Star of Gryffindor

I made this last week. I had the idea after seeing the Beth's Little Star pattern.

I'm not sure I started the pattern correctly as it was a bit difficult to understand. But I made it work! Here's a couple more shots. (All images are clickable to enlarge)

I wanted it to resemble the House scarves everybody makes. The center has 6 rows of claret red, (7 if you count the 5-"spoked" beginning), 2 rows of Poppy (it's really a gold color), 2 rows of red, 2 rows of gold, 6 red, then 2-2-2 again, then 4 rows of red.

I edged it using a shell stitch of 6 clusters each, (with 8 clusters at the star tips). There are a total of nine shells along each star's "arms". Hope you all understand that.

I thought of adding tassels to the tips. Maybe I still will. I always seem to go over the top. LOL!!!!

I'd like to do one star for each House eventually.

I'm not even sure what Ravenclaw's colors are.
